It’s 9am on a Tuesday, and Palma isn’t putting on a show for anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s no festival, no cruise ship in port, no special event filling the streets. Just the city doing what it does on an ordinary morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You wake up, make coffee, and step out for a walk before the heat sets in. In Santa Catalina, the market stalls are opening, someone stacking crates of tomatoes, another sliding open the shutters of a fish stall still glistening from the ice. A queue has already formed outside the local bakery, and by the time you reach the front, the woman behind the counter doesn’t ask what you want anymore. She just reaches for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lunch is at the small place around the corner, the one with no English menu and a set of daily plats<\/em> written on a chalkboard. You’ve stopped needing a translation. You know what llom amb col<\/em> is now, and you’ve decided you prefer it to the tourist favourites two streets over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon slows down. Maybe it’s a few hours of remote work at your kitchen table, laptop open, windows letting in the sound of the street below. Maybe it’s a slow read on the terrace. Either way, there’s no itinerary telling you where to be next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the light softens, you walk, not to see a landmark, but because the evening in Palma is simply better on foot. Along the Passeig, past the cathedral lit gold, down toward the sea where the water turns the colour of the sky. You’re not rushing to fit it all in. Nothing remarkable happens. You buy groceries. You answer emails. You walk to your favourite caf\u00e9. You realise you’ve started recognising familiar faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And somewhere during that perfectly ordinary day, a thought quietly appears:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We could stay a little longer.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ve seen that story repeat itself many times. A one-month booking becomes six weeks. Six weeks becomes the rest of the season. People stop asking where to visit next and start asking what life is like here in winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
