What to Do in Mallorca in August: Concrete Tips for Hot Summer Days

Late August in Mallorca: What to Do Around Palma and the Tramuntana.

1. Evening in Palma’s Old Town

Skip the heat of the day and explore Palma’s historic center after 7 pm. Wander the narrow streets around La Seu Cathedral, grab tapas at La Rosa Vermutería, and finish with almond ice cream at Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo. The vibe is magical in late summer evenings.

2. Valldemossa for a Half-Day Escape

Just 25 minutes from Palma, Valldemossa is cooler in the Tramuntana hills. Stroll through cobblestone streets, visit the Cartuja monastery, and try the famous coca de patata pastry with a café con leche. In late August, the crowds are smaller than earlier in the summer.

3. Sunset at Deia or Sóller Coast

Drive 20–30 minutes from Valldemossa to Deià or Sóller.

  • In Deià, grab a drink at Ca’s Patro March, perched right above the sea.
  • In Sóller, walk along the Port de Sóller promenade and enjoy sunset with fresh seafood.

Both options are close and perfect for one late-summer evening.

4. Market Morning in Santa Maria del Camí (Sunday)

If you’re still here on Sunday, head to Santa Maria del Camí (15 min from Palma). Their weekly market is lively but less touristy than Sineu. Great for local wine, cheese and crafts.

5. Night Swim at Cala Illetas

Close to Palma, Cala Illetas is small but stunning. Go late – around 8 or 9 pm – when most tourists have left. The water is warm, the beach is almost empty, and you can float under the stars.
